Drawing on evidence from its parent/carer surveys, Connect has submitted a response to the Scottish Government's Draft Climate Change Plan consultation. Two surveys - Travel to School and Learning for Sustainability - have formed the basis of Connect's submission.
Our calls for action include:
- Safer walking and cycling routes to school for children and young people
- Road safety education for all children and young people, which should also include education on the health and environmental benefits of sustainable travel
- Engagement of families with schools' learning for sustainability education. Families are keen to be involved and included and this would bring significant benefits to whole school community approaches and actions on sustainability and climate change.
