A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who took part in our Travel to School survey! You can read our report about parents and carers experiences of travelling to school with their child(ren) and their suggestions for improvements to safe travel here. You can also read the BBC's coverage of our report here.
Based on the survey findings, Connect's calls for change include:
- A national strategy for the provision of dedicated school transport
- Greater clarity around local authority dedicated school transport provision and eligibility for free school transport
- Consultation and communication with parents, carers and young people when making changes to school transport
- Regular risk assessments of walking, wheeling and cycling routes to school, including equalities assessments
- Reinstating School Crossing Patrol Officers where these roles have faced cuts
- National entitlement of road safety education for children and families beyond the current Curriculum for Excellence provision
