The following organisations offer support and advice to diverse families:
- Families Outside: an independent charity which has been helping prisoners’ families in Scotland for over 20 years. They offer support and information to families affected by imprisonment.
- Forces Children in Scotland: an education trust supporting the children of Scots who are serving, or who have served, in the Armed Forces.

Gingerbread: the UK-wide charity for single parents, offering support and advice and campaigning for single parents’ rights.

One Parent Families Scotland: the Scottish charity provides information, advice, support and campaigns for single parents too.

Shared Parenting Scotland: a charity (formerly Families Need Fathers) offering information about sharing parenting and the legal, emotional and practical challenges around that.
- The Kinship Care Alliance: the national network of Kinship Care groups across Scotland. It is a grassroots organisation run by kinship carers, formed to campaign for basic rights and justice for the vulnerable children in kinship care.
- Contact: the charity for families of disabled children, providing advice, information and support to the parents of all disabled children – no matter what their condition or diagnosis. They can also put people in touch with local support groups.
