Looking After Yourself: Parent/Carer Wellbeing

We were fortunate to run a free online workship with Big Futures on parent/carer wellbeing.  The Big Futures team kindly shared their workbook too, to give us tips on how to look after our wellbeing. You'll enjoy the tips for taking care of yourself - this will show your children by example how they need to take care of themselves.

We're also collecting tips for the whole family (see below) - wellbeing must be a priority for everyone! If you have ideas to share, please email us and we will post them on this page.

Practical tips for being kind to yourself and helping your family get through difficult times:

  • At least half an hour of exercise each day (ideally aerobic)
  • Make a schedule – this should set out times for doing fun things, as well as chores, and will provide some structure eg plan meals for the week (even have the same meals each day, each week if that works for you)
  • Schedule quiet time for everyone to read/listen to music/craft/practise mindfulness etc
  • Schedule fun each day (quiz, games or whatever your family likes to do),
