Physical Intervention in Schools Draft Guidance

The Scottish Government consulted on draft guidance for schools on physical intervention. We say there needs to be more consistent mention and involvement of parents and carers in the guidance, with a clearer recognition that parents are advocates of their children’s rights, that parents and staff can learn from one another about how best to support children and young people, and that a two-way sharing of skills, experience and knowledge will help to build open, positive, trust-based relationships in the best interests of children and young people.
