Connect's Submission to the Scottish Parliament's Economy, Jobs and Fair Work Committee, April 2018
Connect believes that bank closures in Scotland will impact negatively on the ability of Parent Councils and PTAs to operate effectively, as parent groups often have to handle significant amounts of cash from fundraising. We call for viable alternatives to be identifed by banks for their customers when they close a branch. We ask that consideration is given to third/voluntary sector groups who do not have the resources to address this issue.

July 2018: The Committee Report is published and is available here.
The report recognises how community groups have 'felt the impact of the loss of local bank branches, including the security risk of taking the money some distance away to alternative branches, adding a lot of pressure to volunteers.' We hope that banks take note of the recommendation to work with their customers to find a solution to the difficulties for volunteers caused by the closures!
