Depending on what level your school is in, this new guidance allows more activities to take place and clarifies what still cannot take place. Please do check yourself, as regulations are subject to change and additional guidance may apply in different local authorities, but in summary:
- transition visits for those going into P1 and those going into S1 are now possible for those in levels 2 or 1. Restrictions/recommendations are around keeping children/young people in their class or bubble, helpers on visits must be school staff, enhanced transition for those with additional support needs can take place, with mitigations/risk assessments/no COVID-19 etc. P7s must follow secondary school guidance when they visit (eg face masks);
- day trips (since 10 May) and residential school excursions (from 31 May) can take place for schools in level 2 or below, in class groups or bubbles, with mitigations, risk assessments, no COVID-19 etc. HOWEVER, parents - please be aware that this is extremely short notice for arrangements to be in place. If schools have not been able to organise trips/residential excursions already, it is unlikely that this could happen at such short notice. Please also be aware that paying for trips/excursions for some (many!) families would be extremely difficult at such short notice too;
- drama/PE/music etc - more activities are permitted outside (or for assessment purposes) but still no singing.
