Review of Remote Learning

15th January 2021

HM Inspectors of Education are conducting a review of remote learning throughout January. The purpose of this is to find out what’s working well with remote learning and share examples of good practice, and what are the challenges and issues and what can be done to help with these.

This will be done by:

  • Reviewing local authority plans and guidance for remote learning
  • Holding a 30-45 minute call or online meeting with a small sample of schools in each local authority, to find out what they are doing, what concerns or challenges do they have, and what support do they need. Schools won’t need to provide anything in advance
  • Gathering views from learners and parents/carers through focus groups and surveys. Connect is working with Education Scotland with this

There won’t be any individual school reports or gradings. Instead HMIE will publish national overview reporta which will be available on Education Scotland’s website from the end of January.
