Education Scotland has published its Guidance for preparing in-school and remote learning for S1 - S6 published 3 March 2021
Key messages:
- secondary schools are to develop a 'rationale' for which learners are in, why and when to suit local context
- some in-school learning and continued remote learning for all S1-S6 learners
- learners’ health and wellbeing as well as for learning is important
- S4-6 learners completing National Qualifications should be prioritised for in-school time in order to deliver the Alternative Certification Model (ACM)
- the learning and teaching of critical practical work in relation to qualifications in 2021 that can only be carried out in school, should continue
- colleges can prioritise re-opening to Senior Phase school pupils from 15 March too.
Important information for parents/carers, Parent Councils, and young people:
- 'Schools should communicate the rationale for in-school and remote learning to parents, carers and learners. Communication should also include detailing the Covid-19 mitigations to be followed, all aspects of the existing guidance and accompanying mitigations continue to apply, and how the new requirement for 2m physical distancing will work'
- 'Consideration should be given to the use of other facilities to support in-school learning such a gym-halls and community centres, if possible'.
