Thank you to everyone who responded to our survey on School Inspections. 365 parents and carers across 30 local authorities shared their views, which helped inform Connect’s response to the Scottish Government’s consultation on the future of school inspections.

Parents told us there is a lack of understanding of the inspection process, and desire for greater parental involvement. This is consistent across the inspection process, from preinspection gathering of views, to dissemination of findings. Connect calls for a more transparent approach to school inspection, where parent and pupil experience is given adequate weight, and where there are clear and accessible opportunities for all parties to engage.
