Eileen Prior, Executive Director of Connect, the national parents’ organisation dedicated to supporting effective parental engagement in education, said:

‘Connect welcomes 'Learning Together' – Scottish Government’s action plan on parental engagement published on 21 August 2018. As the national Scottish charity dedicated to supporting effective parental engagement in education, Connect is pleased to see the crucial role of parents so clearly acknowledged in the plan for 2018-21.

Connect is already heavily involved in providing support, information and training to parents and education professionals around the country through our member services and professional learning programmes. Through the Partnership Schools programme, we are also working directly with school communities to build partnerships between home, school and community.

Strengthening partnerships and collaborative working for the benefit of children is at the heart of what we do every day and we will be happy to work in a collaborative way with Government, local authorities and all other partners to make family engagement in our education system as good as it can be.

Gathering evidence of what works and supporting school communities to work in ways that suit their families is key to success and absolutely central to our work.’
