We're pleased to report we've received a letter from Cabinet Secretary John Swinney in response to our letter (below). Mr Swinney confirms the importance of parental involvement and engagement and says that work is currently underway with local authorities and schools to support this. This includes recognising and respecting that parents find some online meeting platforms easier to use than others - communications must work for parents! Read the letter here.

We're hearing again and again about Parent Councils having issues with schools telling them what online meeting platform they can use and what they can't.
Online meeting platforms for parent meetings need to work for parents! Parent Councils are statutory bodies and local authorities, schools and head teachers have legal duties to support them under the Parental Involvement Act.
Read our letter reminding local authorities and Scottish Government of their duties and responsibilities. Schools cannot tell Parent Councils how they can and can't hold their meetings...
