The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) handles complaints about public services in Scotland, such as education, councils, the Scottish Government, and the NHS.
To make sure its complaints processes meet children’s rights as set out in the UNCRC, the SPSO has worked with children, young people, and staff from public bodies to create seven Child Friendly Complaints Handling Principles and carried out a consultation on these.
You can find the principles, consultation questions, and Connect’s response here.
Once the principles have been finalised based on the consultation responses and approved by the Scottish Parliament, they will be supported by a Child Friendly Complaints Process, which is currently being piloted by public bodies and other organisations.
