Aim of the work:

The headteacher of our school approached the Parent Council for help funding literacy and numeracy resources for the school that were beyond the limits of the school’s budget. At the time our Parent Council didn’t have the funds to support his request. A number of our parents set up a fundraising sub-committee solely to concentrate on fundraising for the items needed by the school.

What did you do?

We had a number of events over and above the usual fundraising we do every year - a ladies' night, family night, afternoon tea with Santa as well as a raffle, football cards and a sponsored run in the school playground.

What went really well?

These events have all been a great success and have brought our school community together. We have also had a lot of help from our local community, in terms of the donations we have received, publicity for our events and their support attending our events. We are extremely grateful for the support we have received and through these events we have built relationships with a number of businesses in our local community who we know we can rely on for help in the future.

What did you learn?

How amazing our school community is! The parents/carers and staff at our school have been so supportive of all our fundraising efforts this year, we are continually blown away by the amount of money they help us raise for the benefit of all our children at our school.

What would you do differently?

Nothing! But I would like to take this opportunity to thank the fundraising sub-committee who have worked so hard to raise funds for our school. They have done a fantastic job!
