'Keeping in mind the Cost of the School Day, our parent council came up with an idea that had no cost to anyone but still allowed children to celebrate World Book Day. Children, parents and carers, teachers and the local community were asked for donation of books they no longer read. This was very successful and we collected in over 300 books. This ensured that on World Book Day children could pick their own book to take home with them. The children loved it and were so excited! We are hoping to make this a yearly event. The biggest success was having so many people donate books and seeing the children so happy at being able to pick their own book. Next time, we would try to include the nursery in event as well. We're definitely going to continue with this, having received such positive feedback about it.'
