Defibrillators in schools: Kirklandneuk Parent Council, Renfrewshire

'In 2021 we were successful in supporting parents with their request that a defibrillator was installed beside the school. The issue of needing a defibrillator attached to the school was tabled at a parent council meeting, given the size of the school and where it sits within the community. There was overwhelming support for this to be taken forward and it had been noted as an action. After a number of discussions and local awareness-raising by parents of the school, Renfrewshire Council installed one in all 50 primary schools in Renfrewshire! We were lucky to have been able to gain the support of our local elected members who agreed with us and took it to a Renfrewshire Council meeting and sought approval for it. There was cross-party support for this motion and all 50 primary schools now have them.

This was also noted in the Scottish parliament by our local MSP, which again received cross-party support.'
