The Aberdeenshire Parent Council Chairs closed Facebook group was set up by one of the chairs of an Aberdeenshire school. It is a closed group whereby chairs or vice chairs of Parent Councils in Aberdeenshire can share ideas and best practice within a closed Facebook group. Topics that have come up for discussion so far have been Parent Council bank accounts in light of recent rural bank closures, various communication ideas with respect to trying to engage more parents and Parent Council insurance. At present there are 28 members but hopefully this will grow as more Parent Councils in Aberdeenshire become aware that the group exists. It is a great way of providing support and advice to Parent Council chairs who are often in isolated and rural locations.
