Relationships between school, family and the wider community are often different in secondary schools to those in primary schools, although the statutory role of the Parent Council is the same. We are delighted to welcome academic Dr Janet Goodall, a specialist in parental engagement, who will share ideas and suggestions:
How can secondary school parents be engaged in their young person's learning and in the life of the school?
How can school communities help families to feel welcomed and involved?
How can you support your young person's learning and stay connected to their school lives?
This session will share hints and tips for communicating with parents in secondary schools.
If you are interested in exploring this topic further with your school, you can direct them to 100 Ideas for Secondary Teachers: Engaging Parents, Janet’s new book.
